Default Smart Template

Within the BS Skills there is a highly configurable SmartTemplate called "Default SmartTemplate" that allows to render any kind of PIM product in a data sheet kind of style:

Configuration

As any other SmartTemplate the "Default SmartTemplate" can be configured in many ways through Smart Presets:







  • Choose the Smart Template "Default"
  • As file format html or pdf are recommended
  • All other settings in the "General" settings are as usual



Important are the settings in the "Template Options" section:

Select Logo

Allows to configure the logo used in the header of each document page. Note, that image will be embedded in the original size, so make sure, that it is not too small or big.

Show Revision History

When activated the revision history of the product is displayed, based on the following settings:

Empty Fields

Rules how to deal with empty fields:

  • Hide: Empty fields are left out including the attribute label
  • Show: Empty fields are displayed empty
  • Show with Warning: Empty fields are display with a warning
Link Target for Products

Which link to open on click of a referenced product.

Possible values are:

  • None
  • Product Editor
  • List of all SmartPresets
Link Target for Files

Which link to open on click of a referenced file.

Possible values are:

  • None
  • DAM Editor
  • List of all DAM Presets
Image AttributeImage attribute to be displayed in the header. If left empty the first preview image attribute will be used.
Title AttributeTitle field to be displayed in the header. If left empty the Label will be used.
Teaser AttributeText field to be displayed in the header. If left empty the first Text attribute will be used.
Major Attribute IDsAttributes to be displayed in the header of the document. Not all attribute types might be compatible and can be used.
Minor Attribute Selection

Minor attributes are the attributes to be displayed in the main part of the document. This settings defines the way, how to define them:

  • Smart Sections: can be configured in the BS Settings / Skills and allow to set up sections with attributes and properties
  • Select attributes and group by tabs: All selected attributes are grouped by the UI section tabs. When no attribute is selected, all compatible attributes are selected automatically.
Minor Attribute IDs or Smart Sections

Attributes to be displayed in the main part of the document. Not all attribute types might be compatible and can be used. If left empty all compatible attributes will be used.

Include ReferencesIf PIM or MAM references should be listed.
Include VariantsIf product children should be listed. If the product is an end node, the siblings are listed.
Check TerminologyThis checkbox is only available when the BS RealTerm module is licensed as well. It validates the text fields against the terminology rules.
Reference Attribute IDsAttributes that should be shown for product references
File Attribute IDsAttributes that should be shown for file references
Variant Attribute IDsDefines the columns of the variant table.
FooterText displayed in the footer of each page


Smart Sections

Smart Sections are configurable areas in the Default Smart Template, that allow to setup the document main area with attributes more precisely. Smart Sections can be created at System Preferences /  BS / Smart Sections.

Each Smart Section allows to define:

  • Label - the title of the section
  • Text - optional static text that will be displayed below the section
  • Attributes - attributes to be listed in the section. Reference and Image attributes will be always shown further down in dedicated sections per attribute.
  • Hide Labels - when checked the attribute labels are left away in the section.

The Smart Sections can then be assigned to the Smart Preset of Default Smart Templates Options when setting the "Minor Attribute Selection" to "Select Smart Sections" and then selecting the Sections at "Smart Sections". 

The final Smart Document then shows the sections as configured. In the following screenshot the first section is called "Text Fields", which for example is configured to show no labels:
